Partnering with families to help children know Jesus, grow as His follower, and show others His love through service.  As children's lives overflow with His love they will go and share Jesus with the world.

Jesus is the Gift
by Holley Gerth

Jesus is the gift that perfectly fits every heart
and it is with His love that all celebration starts.

We rejoice in Him as we remember His birth
and thank God for sending His only Son to earth.

His life led from a manger to a cross on a hill
where He faithfully followed His Father’s perfect will.

He freely laid down everything so that we could live,
and there is no greater treasure anyone could give.

Like a scarlet ribbon His love wrapped around the cross
and He offered it to us all at the greatest cost.

So each time that we give we remember what He’s done
and honor the perfect Gift—God’s one and only Son.

Getting Over the Gimmies

Hey mom, I saw the coolest paint gun on TV!" our son John, then about 11 years old, excitedly said. "That's what I want for Christmas! All the other guys are asking for it, and their parents are probably getting it for them, too. I just have to have one!
This season of giving too often becomes the season of "gimme." So how can we raise kids to be "givers" instead of "getters"? Here are six quick tips.

Discipleship Tip

Christmas memories leave a lasting imprint on every child's heart and mind.  Kids look forward to the holiday season with wonder and delight.  Channel their excitement to cultivate awareness that Christmas is all about God's gift to us—His son, Jesus.  Help children recognize that the joy they feel when receiving gifts is similar to the deep, abiding joy that Jesus brings to those who trust Him for forgiveness and new life!  Learn how here...

Giving of Ourselves

Every year at this time, the drumbeat begins: The Christmas season begins much too early; it tramples Thanksgiving; Christmas is too commercial; greed has gutted the holiday of its soul, etc.  And, of course, it’s true.  Christmas is much too mercantile.  A gift is about the giver, not the recipient.  In a classic sense, when we give, we break off a piece of ourselves and impart it to the recipient.  Consider the Bible story of the wise men’s gifts to the Christ child.  Read the story...
