Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for hosts for summer evening gatherings (for games, pool parties, volleyball, etc.) and for kitchen help during the Camp at Old Mill mission outreach July 8-11. To volunteer, call Donna in Youth Ministries at 610-363-7171 extension 2144.

Shepherds
:
Adults growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ and relationally involved in the lives of students within this ministry.

  • Purpose: Helping students to become devoted followers of Christ.
  • Commitment level:
    • shepherd 4-7 students by getting involved in their lives
    • attend at least one Fusion gathering each week and Avalanche or Summerblast (winter or summer retreats)
    • participate in staff training.
  • Spiritual gifts helpful for this position: leading, administration, discernment.
  • Characteristics of a shepherd:
    • growing in your walk with the Lord
    • enjoying students in the age group with whom you desire to work
    • being willing to invest time to build relationships with students
    • being ready for a life changing experience.

There are only two things that will last forever--

God’s Word and people.  Invest in something for eternity!

 

Event Person: The event person plans one task or event that requires skills in administration.

  • Responsibilities include:
    • reporting to the coordinator, director, or youth pastor who is overseeing you and giving direction
    • gathering the critical information so a registration brochure can be made if you are planning an event
    • carrying out the task to which you are committing
    • examples:  Avalanche, PowerPoint person, registration person, etc…
  • Spiritual gifts helpful for this position: administration, helps.

 

Program Person: The program person is involved up front and/or behind the scenes to plan and run whole group ministry environments.  This role combines relationships (adult to student) and tasks.

  • Responsibilities include:
    • being relationally involved with students by coming to Fusion gatherings. See the description above
    • running program tasks like drama, sound, singing, worship, instruments, video, power point, creative announcements, dance, MCing etc.
    • empowering students to use their gifts and talents to reach their peers in creative ways
    • taking the responsibility for the students and the task that is being committed to.
  • Spiritual gifts helpful for this position: creative arts, leadership, music, helps, administration.

 

The ‘Just-Checking-Things-Out’ Role: This person comes to the main events of the Middle School Ministry for 3-6 weeks Though there are no official responsibilities, it is recommend that people check out the ministry. Come to one of the main programs of the ministry consistently (whether on Sunday AM or Wednesday PM) for a span of 3-6 weeks.  While there:

  • engage students in conversation (primary purpose)
  • engage youth workers in conversation
  • show up 10-15 minutes early and stay 10-15 minutes afterward
  • if possible, attend a leadership meeting
  • meet with the youth pastor after your first few visits.
