Helping to Develop and Maintain Strong Families, Leading to a Godly Legacy
Please join us at 9 a.m. Sundays in Room 116.
FamilyFIRST is for those in all stages of life who want to know more about family, how to cope with family struggles, and better appreciate its joys. God, through His Word, provides valuable instruction and encouragement about the critical components of developing and maintaining a healthy family life for individuals and families of all sizes. All we have to do is to understand and apply these basic tenets in pursuit of a more fulfilling life.
There are three pillars on which Godly families are built. These pillars will be the focal point of FamilyFIRST. With them, families will become stronger, caring, and will grow in spiritual unity. It is CFC’s passion to have families that are strong as steel, tender as a flower, and able to leave a lasting legacy. These three pillars are:
1) Strong Foundation - Psalm 127:1 says “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain.” A healthy family needs a strong foundation based on the Word of God (Matthew 7:24-27). Scripture has much to say about relationships and families. FamilyFIRST will have series that look at passages of Scripture and ways to apply them to the home.
2) Healthy Habits – Jesus began His day with prayer (Mark 1:35). There are habits that every family has that are good and edifying, like prayer, while others can be destructive. FamilyFIRST will engage families through series on creating memories, devoting time to spiritual growth in the home, and evaluating change. We will also promote family events at CFC (game night, BBQ, movie night, gym night, etc).
3) Life Skills – 1 Timothy 4:7 says “train yourself to be Godly.” It takes effort and determination, as well as community, to learn new skills in making the family the focal point. We will work through personal and family skills such as conflict resolution, family finances, and building faith in our homes.
Come join us at 9 a.m. Sunday mornings in Room 116 for FamilyFIRST ! You will be encouraged to grow deeper as we focus on your family! Parents, prospective parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, mentors, and all others who want to learn about the family are welcome to participate.
Six exciting series will launch FamilyFIRST based on the three pillars of Strong Foundation, Healthy Habits, and Life Skills:
Family Life Skill: Purposeful Parenting – Proverbs has much wisdom that we can apply to our lives. We will take a look at the book through the lens of being a parent and see what it says about such topics as training and discipline, diligence, legacy, heeding wisdom, and more.
Healthy Habits: Powerful Family Prayer – We have heard the adage “The family that prays together, stays together.” We will look at the different dynamics in a family and discuss how prayer can be a vital part of the home. It should increase our desire for prayer and building relationships in our home.
- Personal Life Skill: Building Men and Women of Faith – Our families evolve and change as time speeds by, we grow in our parenting, our relationships, and our spiritual devotion as our children continue to grow. As we grow, it is important to reflect on our individual role of mother/wife/friend and father/husband/friend to objectively see where we can make changes. The women will attend the Life Ready Women series, while the men will review and discuss eight of the best Men’s Fraternity studies.
- Strong Foundation: Family Fellowship – 1 John has much to say about the basis and behavior of fellowship – how we interact with one another. The home is the primary place where healthy fellowship is learned and applied. We will look at this book from a family perspective and work through difficult situations like: What if my child is being rebellious? What if my spouse is not interested in spiritual things? How do we demonstrate sacrificial love in our home.
- Repair Life Skill: Healthy Family Finances – How we handle our finances can either increase or decrease the number of conflicts in our home. Teaching financial principles to our children, such as saving and investing, how much debt should we have, and being good stewards are also critical topics to pass along. This series will have qualified teachers such as Ron Blue, Chuck Bentley, and Howard Dayton as well as respected Bible teachers Chip Ingram and Rick Warren give insight into what Scripture says about money.
- Strong Foundation: The Faithful Family – There are many passages in the Bible that talk about parenting. As believers with children, we need to understand and apply what these passages mean in our homes. Join us as we discuss Deuteronomy 6, Joshua 24:15, Ephesians 6:1-4, 2 Timothy 1:5, Luke 2:51-52 and many more.
- In addition to the series above, we also will have weeks where we will discuss current events, hold panel discussions, and tackle topics like how people change, handling conflict in a home, selecting entertainment, managing our time, understanding different personality types, and much more, all meant to build the family with a focus on these three pillars.
