 Worship

The worship of God is God’s idea, not ours. So what matters most is our understanding how He defines worship as we read His Word. Just as faith is a gift from God rather than something we stir up within ourselves, so it is with worship. In order to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4: 23), we must first have the eyes of our heart opened by the Holy Spirit. To worship God in truth we must see God for who He is. And to worship Him in spirit, we must engage not only our minds but also our affections, setting our hearts on Him above all else. This is what it means to truly worship God as a lifestyle, not just something we do in a corporate setting on Sunday morning. As Paul writes in his letter to the Romans:

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy,
to offer your bodies as living sacrifices,
holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship.”
Rom. 12:1 (NIV)

Worship is the primary purpose of the church, and the fuel for every ministry the Lord creates. We agree with author and pastor John Piper who states in his book, Let The Nations Be Glad:

“Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn’t. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man. When this age is over, and the countless millions of the redeemed fall on their faces before the throne of God, missions will be no more. It is a temporary necessity. But worship abides forever.”

Our desire here at CFC is to make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our passion is to help create passionate worshipers who will pick up their cross and follow Him.
